2024.RSC.572Description
Postcard depicting an old schoolhouse, erected 1853, on Smith's Prairie near Coupeville. Postcard is addressed to Miss Hazel Holt of Corvallis, Oregon. Postmarked 26 August 1913, Coupeville.
The reverse of the postcard reads, "Dear Hazel, This is the 1st schoolhouse on the island; doesn't look much like "the little red schoolhouse" does it? Leave here a week from Friday & will be in C. [Corvallis] about a week & 10 days later. Will tell you all about the place & people & the fun I've had when I see you as I haven't time to write such a long book as it would fill. [Illegible] Julie's fine but am awfully sunburnt just this minute. Love to you all from Maibel [or Maribel]."Collection
