A photo in a newspaper of Navy man in front of the Flag. Under the photo it says "Traditional Staff Duty." The newspaper also said "In Celebration of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island's 34th birthday wouldn't have been complete without the traditional flag-raising ceremony, but the participation of Sgt. Austin Case made the event really special. Case, who now is retired, raised the flag at the station's commissioning on Sept. 21, 1942, and joined in the 34th birthday celebration by raising the flag again at the original site."
