Photo of a soldier on his horse. The man is in uniform with a "rough rider"style hat, a long cape, gaiters. He has a wide mustache. The photo is mounted on cardboard. On the back: Dr. McKee. Doctor in Coupeville and Oak Harbor early 1900s. Two newspaper clippings are taped to the back. October 3, 1919, Island County Times: Dr. J. A. McKee visits the island. May 17, 1918 (unknown newspaper), Dr. McKee Killed in France. He served in World War I in the Candian medical unit. He as wounded and gassed and at one point presumed dead, hence the other article about his death. The doctor returned to open a practice in Seattle.
