Photograph of an Indigenous woman performing a dance at the Penn Cove Water Festival, c. 1930s. The woman is clothed in "traditional" regalia and is holding aloft two feathers from a large bird, possibly an eagle, owl, or hawk. She is encircled by seated and standing Indigenous peoples (including children), some of which are drumming. It is unclear which tribe{s) these peoples are associated.
Possibly the 1939 Penn Cove Water Festival.
A note from Roger Sherman on the reverse of the photo credits it to Don Lee. Stamped on the reverse is "Grove Studio Coupeville, WASH"Photograph Details
