Description

Historic Blockhouse Building Photo of A.L. Alexander and D.C. Smith holding an old cross found standing on the island by the first white settler in 1851 it is believed to have been erected by Russian priests. Back of photo: "The other story is that father Blanchet erected it while preaching to the Indigenous Peoples in 1848. As of 2011 it has been down sized and placed behind glass by the blockhouse. Alexander and Smith stand on either side of the cross in front of the Blockhouse.
