Historic Blockhouse Building
Article on back of photo reads: "Ralph Ward, mayor of Coupeville, Whidbey Island, left dedicated the historic Alexander Blockhouse near Front Street in yesterday. The structure was recently purchased by the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce for $5000 as a historic site. From left were Ward; Donald Sorrenson, president of the Coupeville Lions Club; William Coyle, commander of the George Morris Post No. 129, American Legion, and Herman Wanamaker, Coupeville pioneer. Ward comended them for their parts in restoration of the blockhouse. The mayor presented a plaque to the American Legion post in honor of the Legion's initial effort in 1933 to preserve the structure."
