Photo of a native woman named Susie (maiden name Slapoose, Lushootseed name Teloleta) Kettle standing next to two men one of which may be Aleck (Alex) Kettle. Susie was Lower Skagit and Aleck was Duwamish. Susie was born about 1861 and died 1938. Her father was named Jim Clappose or Slapoose (Clabuse) and her mother was called Squinty (called Squinty originally when she was 14 by Captain Coupe's wife.
