Ebeys Prairie - Cyrus E Cook House, 1876, 44 South Sherman Road. Coupeville,
The builder of this 1888 framhouse remains nameless, but the original owner,
Cyrus Cook, was known as a skilled carpenter, and may have built it. He and his wife sarah, who taught the first Smith Prairie School, lived here for many years. Mr Cook died in 1906, but Mrs. Cook lived in the home with her son until her death in 1915. Alvin Cook, their son, lived in the house until it was purchased by Sherman Farms c1930. By this time, the cook barn had burned, and wood shingle siding had been put on the house. In 1950, the front wrap-around porch was removed, and the section enclosed.
