Description

Postcard of the Blockhouse Inn and Alexander blockhouse. Hotel is two stories, at least three chimneys - one has a long chimney topper, and two signs - eat and open. A standalone sign is to the right of the Inn. Caption: "Blockhouse Inn Coupeville, WA. Ellis 3451" A flagpole is in front. The Native American canoes are beside the blockhouse, one canoe is on top of the shed. It looks like Alexander and Front Streets were still dirt roads; there is a faint outline of a crosswalk across Alexander. Written on the back: Alexander Blockhouse and (Starwanna Hotel), Blockhouse Inn. The hotel as at the end of Front Street and Alexander Street in front of the wharf. It first was the Starwanna Hotel, then the Blockhouse Inn which burned in 1968. As of 1991, this is the site of the ICHS Museum. From folder: Coupeville, Business, Blockhouse Inn
