Description

Postcard of Ed Jenne's house given in memory of Sarah Jane Crosby. (AZO postcard - issued 1904-1918.) Ed Jenne House. c. 1908 located at 538 Engle Road, Coupeville. Now is the known as the Jenne Farm or the Jenne Gathering House, Owned 2008 by Fran Einherst and Joyce Pedersen.Vernacular Farmhouse. Ed Jenne, a prominent local farmer, bought a load of lumber for $5,000 in 1908 and built this house, baarn and outbuildings. The barn was constructed as a dairy barn with calving pens. Other outbuildings include a laundry building, carriage house, grainery, workshop and a recently collapsed hog shed. Besides his farming background, Ed Jenne retired and became an owner of Norman and Clydesdale horses, and planted a 4-square fruit orchard. The house has been, and is used as a rental, and is now owned by Ed Jenn's nephew.( 1971) The house has had no additions or alterations done to it. 1995 one contributing building; five contributing structures. This property is significant under National Register criterion C, because it embodies the distinctive characteristics of architactural expressions and methods of construction that represent the period of community development in the Reserve...1971-1910.
