Description

Black and white photograph of what might be a Native American war dance performance. Two Native American young men dance on stage in ceremonial dress. They face off to the side, one holding his right hand to his head. Bells are attached to their ankles and calves. They dance on a stage before an audience, whose heads pop up in the foreground. On two of the sides of the stage sit other Native American men, perching on wooden backless benches. Three to the left of the frame sit huddled around a large drum. Photo has crimped edging on all sides. Photo was part of a small handmade card photo book bound with string. Photo by Madge Dean Swenson, aunt of Lillian Dean Huffstetler. Last water festival for some years.
