Photo description on the back states: Site #8 Perego's bluff, lake, and point. George W.S.H. Perego, a veteran of the Seminole, Mexican and Cival Wars homesteaded here in 1876. He was a recluse and lived with his three dogs on the spit in a shanty until his death in 1900. He was wild-looking and covered with vermin. He so captured the curiosity of the staid farmers on the prairie that even after seventy years and with no official designation, this is known as Perego's bluff. The action of the waters of Admiralty Inlet and the Strait of Juan de Fuca meeting at this point form the spit.
