A medallion commemorating the opening of the Panama Canal. There is a leather strap attached to the medal 71/2 cm long and held in place with a metal buckle. The medalion is 41/2 cm long and 3 cm wide. The front has a excavator bucket engraved on it and the words Panama Canal below it.
On the back is engraved "Patented May 13, 1913 - July 8, 1913 - The material contained herein was excavated at the Panama Canal. Built by U.S.A. May 4, 1904 - Jan. 1, 1915. Approximate cost $375,000,000."
