Description

A Wheelock China Austria candy bowl or dish with a lid. Red roses in a floral ring around the dish and top. Two handles on the bowl and one on the lid. Gold trim on the handles, around the rims and center floral pattern. Green trim on the rims. Scalloped rims top and bottom of the dish. Wavy exterior to the bowl. From two notes with the bowl and lid: "This cracker bowl given to Mel and Dorothy Neil as a wedding present in 1930 by Sadie Morse Davis, Oak Harbor pioneer who received it as a wedding gift when she married Robt Davis abt 1880." "Sadie Morse Davis (Mrs. Robert Davis) was the daughter of Capt George MOrse, one of OH's first sea captains. One of her wedding gifts in the early 1860's was this cracker bowl. When Mel Neil and Dorothy Burrier were married in 1930 Sadie gave the cracker bowl to them as a wedding gift! Sadie sailed thru the Pass with her father and observed that "one day there will be a bridge across the pass between the two islands.""
