This is probably around the time that Ray graduated from high school- 1932. Emma was married to Joe Reuter at the time. They lived in Seattle. She married Joe when Ray was 13. Ray wanted to stay with grandma on the farm when Joe and Emma moved to Seattle. Ray was on the first football team at the Langley High School. He won a scholarship to go to Bellingham but declined it because he wanted to be a farmer.
