Photograph of 13 Bunker Hill explosion survivors at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station after their rescue, 1964. The tanker "Bunker Hill" exploded and sank in Rosario Strait, between Whidbey and Lopez Island. This incident claimed 15-19 lives. 21 survivors were taken to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, and four (4) to Island Hospital in Anacortes. A newspaper clipping on the reverse of the photograph describes the incident.Photograph Details
