Description

Puget Sound Academy, Coupeville, opened its doors in 1886. The above building was built in 1886 as a sanitarium by Dr. Highwarden and the same year sold for an academy uner the management of the Congregational Church. There were no high schools in the lower Sound and this was thought to be an ideal place for advanced learning. About 1896 the building burned.
