Description

Alexander blockhouse. The blockhouse is two levels with the second story level longer and wider than the first level. It is sided with planks and the roof is shingled. The cross in the foreground is from missionaries in 1840. To the left is a canoe shed. On the reverse of this postal card: No 13 in Union Oil Company's Natural Color Scenes of the West. Relic of the historic International "54-40 of Fight" controversy, the Whidbey Island Block House was built in 1855.
