First Cornet school. 31 children of all ages stand in front of a one-room schoolhouse with enclosed porch. A large pile of firewood sits near the door and a flag flies from a log pole. The boys are perched on a very large rock with the girls standing in front. School located across from Banta Rd turnoff. Ruth Kirk's mother Miss Beckwith (married John Oldenberg) taught there.
