The caption reads, ‘For us, their precious lives they gave, for freedom’s sacred cause they died.’ The message on the verso reads, ‘Dear Grandpa, Hope you are well and able to take part on this beautiful day. The mayor has arranged in Everett the morning for G.A.R. and the afternoon for sports. Love to Aunt Lulu and yourself. Frances’.
