1987.01.3252Description
Paper bag drawing. Street scene of people walking down the street in front of the Bahama house and Filer House. Man is selling fish from a push cart.
Caption written by Sanchez reads, 'House brought from the Bahamas on the William Street side is the Bahama House and next to it is the house with two side porches. Its original owner built it with two side porches for the purpose of being situated on a street corner with the city surveyed the streets in the section of the town, but it did not turn out how its owner expected, because the Bahama House was brought from the Bahamas in 1847 and placed on the corner of Eaton and William Streets'.
A second caption written by Sanchez reads, 'The house to the left of the scene is The Bahama House, brought from the Bahamas on a barge. The house to the right is the old Filer house, which is now owned by Sheriff William Freeman. I am the driver on the cart drawn by a goat.'Type of Drawing
