Description

Eddie Stephen's Sea Chest from World War II; Note inside chest: "This chest was built with Navy Plywood. The hinges and chain are from a Quonset Hut. The canvas handles are from the H.M.S. LST 419, sunk in the Mediterranean. The hasp and fasteners were made from a 40 millimeter shell casing taken from the above ship, 1943 Arzew, North Africa. The chest traveled with me from N. Africa thru out the Pacific." Chest has various magazines (Sea Bee, Yank, Leatherneck), as well as some Japanese publications, two photo albums, and two scrapbooks.
