LHS 2007.41Description
3 fragments of a single quilt, c. late 1800's, probably about 74" x 84"
Machine pieced patchwork squares, 2 3/4" finished size each. Quilt had been tied.
Dark, mostly brown prints are arranged diagonally with lighter, mostly red prints; some blues thrown in for variety
Batting is a soft, thick cotton which is in good shape where it didn't wear through
Middle of quilt wore out, probably from excessive use, and so bad spots were cut out and three pieces remain:
21" x 37"
36" x 37"
50" x 74"
Interesting, ?unusual? print on back.
The "binding" is the back fabric brought around to the front, typical before bindings were used.Update Date
