Description

large pincushion, top made of strips of gold-colored silk sewn together with feather stitch in blue and golden/yellow thread strips apparently were the narrow selvedges cut from the edges of fabric; some have black printing such as: "Blackstone", "Little Gold Dye", "No. 10", "N.S." These are arranged in a diamond like pattern 8" x 8", stuffed quite firmly (it's heavy!) with sawdust, perhaps cedar so it would be aromatic, a "smell pillus.ow" Lizzie Gould's daughter, Marian Gould Heald, always kept the pincushion on her dresser, perhaps using it for hat pins
