Crazy quilt, 57" x 67", which belonged to Wilhelm Hemple of Camden
The patches in the quilt include wool paisleys (from old shawls?), lightweight wools, silks, taffetas, and many cotton fabrics. Red backing and brown binding.
Embroidery stitches used include feather, various kinds of cross stitch, running stitch but just a few.
A Japanese fabric (dark blue with a beige design) was used for soe squares for foundation fabric instead of muslin.
Condittion: Multiple areas of fraying and tearing, need repair or tulle covering.Relationships
