Description

Two fashionably attired cousins stroll the byways of Los Gatos in the late 1890s, despite the lack of sidewalks. Blanche Starkweather (left) was born in 1874 in Iowa. A teacher who lived on Broadway, Starkweather married Harry S. Beckwith, a grocer, in 1896. Pearl M. Blank, born in 1884 in Iowa, was the daughter of Moses F. Blank (1855 - 1932), who served as the constable of Redwood Township from 1894 - 1898, and Louise Sporleder (1861 - 1950). She lived with her family on Edelen Avenue and worked as a music teacher. Blank later married Edward Baker, a mining engineer. SIM001
