Exceptional fruit crops created a boom time in Santa Clara Valley in 1887. John W. Lyndon auctioned off the "Almond Grove Addition" on Saturday, September 7, after an excursion train from San Francisco arrived with 200 potential buyers. The sale lasted two hours and resulted in the purchase of 121 lots. The horse's ear at lower right indicates that the photographer captured this image while seated in his buggy. SIM002Collection
