Lyndon Farwell, left, was president of the Los Gatos Telephone Company. The other men are unidentified. For local phone calls, Los Gatans were instructed to first dial EL (for Elgato), followed by the regular five-digit phone number. Beyond Los Gatos, a special digit was used to reach each different exchange. For example, to call Campbell, the caller would first dial the number 7, followed by the number listed in the Campbell directory. FAR059Collection
