This is a black and white photograph taken of Edward Macabee, father of Zephyr Macabee who is known for inventing the Macabee gopher trap. Edward lived in Los Gatos and owned a hotel which at the time was known as the Coleman House (built in 1881 by James Coleman) but now called the Alpine House. Edward had eight children, viz.: Zephyr, Carrie, Mary, Flora, Delia, Edward, Andrew, and Ernest V. Edward was married to Matilda Francis who was sister to Los Gatos resident Octave Francis ranch owner.Collection
