This modified 1940 D. P. Harris newsboy bike was ridden by ridden by Larkspur Canyon Gang member Tom Slivka on Mt. Tamalpais in the early 1970s. It is representative of the bikes modified and ridden by the Larkspur Canyon Gang. Their off-road riding was noticed by the road racers of Velo-Club Tamalpais, who would become pioneers of mountain biking and the mountain bike industry.
