The item is an affidavit notarized by Karl A. Feint in Stark County, Ohio. The affidavit is a statement from Michael J. Vaughan confirming that Herbert F. Doney was a member of Company C, 14th infantry and was sationed in the P.I. in LaGuan, Samar, and was confined to the hospital with dysentery and malaria fever. The document further states that Vaughan served with Doney in Canton as honor guard to William McKinley's body, and that the living conditions were damp, cold and unsuitable.
