Niles McKinley impersonator wins award The award was named after three-term Niles mayor who also served 30 years as a Weatherfield Township Trustee. by Cynthia Vinarsky Vindicator Trumbull Staff Niles -- A Howland resident known for his impersonation of Niles' native-son president William McKinley was honored by the Partnership for Greater Niles Monday for his service to the community. Mike Wilson, 37, of Raglan Drive, Howland, was presented the 19th annual Carmen DeChristofaro Award, named after a three-term Niles mayor known for his community service. Often featured: Executive director of the Homebuilders Association of Mahoning Valley, Wilson is best known in Niles for his public portrayals of McKinley, which are often featured at events sponsored by the Niles Historical Society and the McKinley Memorail Library and Museum. He is the immediate past president of the Mahoning Valley McKinley Club, is a member of the historical society and the Friends of the Library and Museum, and writes a column on the building industry for the Vindicator. Ohio's Secretary of State Robert Taft was guest speaker for the award banquet at McMenamy's Banquet Center and presented the award. The Partnership of Greater Niles includes the Niles Area Chamber of Commerce, Niles Lions, Kiwanis, Jaycees, Rotary, and the Warren-Niles Zonta. Elected Niles Mayor in 1964, DeChristofaro also served 30 years as a Weatherfield Township Trustee and was active locally with the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America and several other community organizations.
