Photographs of 71 Western Drive from the 1978 David Gibson Historic Sites Survey. Gibson dates the house to 1888 (rather than 1883 as had been previously estimated. Hartshorn House #24. Previous owners: Hartshorn Estate (1915), Edward and Alice Field (1951), Donald and Sally Peterson (1969).
Appears on the Van Duyne and Young Hartshorn Estate Map of 1888, Robinson Atlases (1890, 1906, 1928), Holliday Map of 1922.
As of 1978, "The house has a fireplace in the small front parlor and and another in the dining room...no indication of one in the living room. The 'laundry house,' a small stone structure in the backyard is probably contemporary with the house and had its own water supply, toilet and heating. The open stairway is original. A porch-like room was added by Mrs. Field."
Etched in the plaster in the guest room is "Mr Deming's Study."Collection
