Two photographs of the interior of the First Presbyterian Church, Springfield. Undated. Part of the Brison Collection. Inscription on verso of photograph reads: "The old Revolutionary Church at Springfield, N.J., where five generations of my family have worshipped. This church was burned during the Revolutionary War and rebuilt. It is the church made famous in the battle of Springfield, and where Parson Caldwell of the "Fairies Church" nearer Elizabeth got the Watts Hymns books to use as as wadding for the guns and said, "Put Watts into them boys, put Watts into them." Emile Benson Welsh 1911 Second photograph verso has the following inscription: "The Church of Brison ancestors. Presbyterian Church in Springfield, NJ where all Welsh children, Tom and Emily, were baptized and (Married?).
