Photographs taken by Owen Lampe in August 1975. Stop #1 on the Old Short Hills Road Walking Tour. The age of the building is uncertain. According to township records, it was built in 1754. It appears on the early Whtlock map of Millburn Township, from 1859. Most likely, it was an 18th century farmhouse that was remodelled in the first half of the 19th century to the 19th century vernacular style in the photograph. The house was used as the manse of St. Stephen's church from 1851 to 1856. It was owned by the Parkhurst family from 1899 to 1947.
According to a document in the museum archives, the current house dates to 1834 and was owned by C. L Keller.Photograph Details
