He died in Livermore, Alameda Cty, CA on 01/17/1925. He was on the ship Saranac which patrolled along the West Coast around 1860. Many of the photos in the album are of sailors from that ship.
The captions shown in the album are in part based on information from Mr Sherwood's step-son, Ralph M. Ryley of Benicia California. Mr Ryley was the son of Emman Esther Snyder and George Washington Ryley, They divorced in 1883. Esther married Lyman Mumford Sherwood in 1897. Ralph M Ryley died in Benicia on 12/14/1943.Collection
