This is a signed statement by Lansing B. Mizner on 06/01/1850 swearing to uphold the Constitution of the U.S. and California in performing his duties as Justice of the Peace in Benicia, CA. It is certified by Judge of the County Court, Joseph Winston. At one point it looks like Judge Winston started to certify vonPfister as the winner and then scratched that out and added Mizner's name.
On the reverse is a certification by John S. Brown the Judge of the election for Justices of the Peace held in Benicia. He certifies that L.B. Mizner received a majority of the votes in said election. It is dated 05/25/1850.Collection
