Description

A 36" Kestner doll #171 is marked that it was made in Germany and a secondary mark of "excelsior" indicates that it was distributed in the U.S. These dolls were in the category of "Dorothy doll". It has long, brown hair which is sewn to stiff netting and then attached to the bisque head with glue. It has "sleep" eyes/movable eye lids, there are no eyelashes, the eye brows are painted on in brown paint, and the cheeks are rounded and rosy. The mouth is partially open with reddish lips and four teeth showing. It has a jointed solid body - articulated at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees.
