A historic Palestinian village in the Baysan subdistrict, situated on the eastern edge of the high hill of al-Shafa beside a north–south wadi that joined Wadi al-Bira, with secondary roads connecting it to surrounding villages and the highway to Baysan; the site has also been associated with ancient and medieval settlements and fortifications. Its agricultural economy was based primarily on rain-fed grain cultivation, with wheat and barley historically documented alongside olives, while 4,667 dunums were devoted to cereals and 48 dunums to irrigated land or orchards in 1944/45, and the grassy mountainous surroundings provided grazing land.
