Ronda is in Andalusia, the region of Spain that was under Arab influence for over 500 years after the invasion of 711. A hint of Arab influence is seen in these whitewashed buildings. Muslims, Jews and Christians lived harmoniously until the Reconquista of the Emirate of Granada by the “Catholic monarchs” Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492.
