Note

My recent relocation near a wetland on the Pacific Flyway has unexpectedly submerged me in vast expanses of color. I have resisted painting it as I thought that no one will believe these luscious, sherbet skies. The evening colors fill my range of vision from the zenith high above my head in a smooth, contiguous 180 degree arc below my feet, where they are reflected and doubled in the mirror stillness of the water. Many evenings sitting soaking it in has had its effect—the color has now illuminated my palette. As the cranes and geese fly in from foraging in the fields, I realize there are thousands of hearts beating in the sky above my head. Their arrival, their minds, and presence, ensoul the sky.
