Dear Karen - - and then came Karen. As the chat gives us a hint, Mom didn't always have too smooth a life. A young bride, when just 24 and with a year old daughter, her father died suddenly at Los Gatos. And I suppose shortly after that her husband, Joe, developed T.B. and lingered on until 1901. Leaving her with a ranch and a lot of hard work. Presently she married Dan Regan, a really sweet guy we all know as "Gampy Dan." She moved to the Blaner ranch at Saratoga where he was the residential manager, and remained until he died in 1946, where upon she bought the cottage up in town. The Blaners were skinflints, and didn't pay very well. But Mom kept the big old house neat and comfortable. Just ask Dorie. She always enjoyed visiting the ranch too. I guess the other surviving members of the Hanrahan family, or maybe Gampy, managed Mom's old ranch. I was taken over to it several times, and visited one of M's aunts there, but don't know just what the arrangement was. The property was finally sold many years ago. We drove M down there one time, and found her old home. It has been rebuilt a number of times but she recognized a pantry window where Mom used to call to her to come in for supper. So you have good genes. Dad P.S. Enjoyed the Krystal Kathedral kard.
