The center of the plate depicts a scene with a four soldiers and one woman standing on the porch of a building; one man is raising the American flag onto a flag pole. There are people standing on the beach and three ships in the ocean in the background. Around the rim of the plate are various embossed depictions of California history, including a ship, cacti, missionaries, covered wagons, and trains.Collection
