Dear Sir Yehudi and Lady Diana,
Regretfully, we are leaving Cathedral Oaks as of December 1, 1987. Purchasing the place has proved beyond our means. Added to that is the meager water supply indicated by a geology survey we had done, and the existing tenuous water supply with the Duncans, neither of which are sufficient for a county building permit.
As you know, we have been committed to getting a place of our own for some time. Very recently we have begun the process of doing that on a property not too far from Cathedral Oaks. We will, therefore, be happy to look after things at Cathedral Oaks until new arrangements are made for its occupancy. We have informed Mr. Kozak of our plans and have offered to show the house to prospective new tennants.
Barrie's business is ever increasing. There seems to be no slowing of the merry-go-round. Thankfully the American work force has inserted occasional three-day weekends into the working world and during which we catch up.
Carl is slowing down just a bit more and his hearing is nearly gone. It is so sad to see him receding from the world. In spite of all the hastiness of Duncan senior, we are grateful for the urgings of the Duncan women to get him out a bit on a daily basis. Our hectic pace permits only weekend visits with him.
We apologize for the abrupt departure, but our sellers have asked for a swift close of escrow. We intended to give much more notice.
Please accept our deep appreciation for the years of happiness have spent at Cathedral Oaks, and our regret in leaving.
Most fondly and sincerely,
Carl and Barrie Coate.
