Description

Full mount taxidermied specimen of a male long-tailed duck (Clangula hyemalis). The specimen is standing with its wings closed. The main body is white with dark brown on the back, chest, and cheeks. The tips of the wings and tail are dark brown and the tail is long and thin. The beak and feet and are dark brown. Family: Anatidae Genus: Clangula Species: Clangula hyemalis

This duck breeds in the tundra and taiga regions of the Arctic and winters along the eastern and western coasts of North America, on the Great Lakes, coastal northern Europe and Asia, with stragglers to the Black Sea. The most important wintering area is the Baltic Sea.
