Dough Boy, World War I

Name/Title

Dough Boy, World War I

Entry/Object ID

NU 2023.138

Description

A painting of a "dough boy", or an American infantryman from World War I, in a brown uniform standing in front of vegetation with his hat in his hand. The frame is ovular with a domed glass. There is a second painting in the frame, depicting a formal portrait of a couple. Both the man and the woman are wearing dark/black clothing, with the man wearing a white collared shirt underneath and the woman wearing a white collar. It is possible that the man in this portrait is the same man depicted in the dough boy painting.
