Dearest Carl,
Many thanks for your good letter of November 4th and for the information you give me. As Christmas is coming soon and we shall not meet {before} and as the application of fertilizers does not necessarily co-incide with the Yuletide season, I am sending you our Christmas gift now, so that you may apply it to some more fertilizers or mushroom compost.
If you have any vegetables to spare, do share them with Mitta; it would not only save him money, but me more healthy than the ones you buy.
