WOODBLOCK PRINT "NANGA" Originated by Gizan Izuno This print is an original by Gizan Izuno (1885-1957) of Kyoto who first made a study of the Southern School of Chinese Paintings and later of the Northern School of the Sun and Yuan Dynasties. He is now the only Japanese artist who subscribes to the traditional painting techniques of the Northern School. A world of quiet thinking and the high spiritual rhythm of a landscape naturaly expressed on the print - these are the characteristics of the Northern School of Chinese Paintings.
