Dear Mr. Wulf:
This is in response to your recent telephone request concerning the early history of our company in the Los Gatos area.
In 1952, our company commissioned Mr. Charles M. Coleman to write a book, entitled "PGandE of California." This was the centennial story of the company. It is probably available in the local library, but if not, I would be happy to loan you a copy.
In the appendix of this book is a section called "The Condensed PGandE Family Tree." Our company is made up of over 500 predecessor companies, and they have attempted to make a list. This shows for Los Gatos as follows:
Name and Location Date Organized
Los Gatos Gas Company 1895
Los Gatos Ice & Power Company 1896
Los Gatos Ice Company 1886
Los Gatos Ice, Gas, & Electric Company 1907
Los Gatos Manufacturing Company 1869
In addition, I have asked our library in our General Office in San Francisco to do some research, and they have forwarded copies of various publications, which I am enclosing for your information, dating back to as early as May, 1896 in the "Journal of Electricity."
I trust this information will be of some assistance.
Sincerely,
{signature}
