Los Gatos: A Selected Visual History Stacey M. Carter 2020 Limited Edition Print Portfolio based on historic photographs sourced from the collection of New Museum Los Gatos. The portfolio of 10 digital pigment prints are signed and numbered by the artist in an edition of 17 print portfolios created exclusively for NUMU by Stacey M. Carter in 2019-2020. NUMU Director's Circle members receive an edition portfolio, one portfolio is added to the museum's permanent collection and one is made available for the museum's fundraising activities. The artist retains one signed Bon à tirer Proof, one Artist Proof, and one Printer's Proof respectively. The original edition portfolios are made up of 10 digital pigment prints in a handmade paper portfolio. The portfolio size is: 6 x 8 x .5". Verso also includes text for historic context based on the artist's independent research. Print size is 6 x 8" including white border. Pigment prints are made on a 6-color Epson Stylus Pro 9800 printer using UltraChrome pigment ink and printed on Moab Entrada Rag 300gsm double-sided rag paper. The portfolio is handmade with Fabriano Tiziano paper and velcro closures. The interior is lined with an 1893 map of the town of Los Gatos printed on Fabriano Tiziano Raw Sienna paper. The format was initially inspired by vintage souvenir postcards that fold out from a self-enclosing envelope. Each black and white original photograph was scanned by the artist and transformed by the artist's creative working processes. The historic photographs are unique, vibrant interpretations of the subjects portrayed. Stacey M. Carter's, Los Gatos: A Selected Visual History presents Los Gatos history in a contemporary new light.
